Course overview
ACU Online offers the Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing (Perioperative Nursing). By specialising, you will develop your holistic care skills in speciality practice, including a person- and family-centred health promotion. Specific knowledge in the areas of bioscience, pharmacology and lifespan development relevant to your chosen speciality will also be explored and applied to your clinical nursing practice.
The perioperative specialisation modules cover integral anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and the significance of polypharmacy in pain assessment, management and surgical risk models.

Entry requirements
To be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing, an applicant must have the following:
- Have completed a Bachelor of Nursing degree or equivalent.
- Hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra).

Commonwealth Supported Places
The Australian Government allocates a certain number of CSPs to the universities each year, which are then distributed to students based on merit.
If you're a Commonwealth Supported Student (CSS), you only need to pay some of your tuition fees. This is known as the student contribution amount – the balance once the government subsidy is applied. This means your costs are much lower.
Limited CSP spaces are offered to students enrolled in selected postgraduate courses.
Your student contribution amount is:

- Reviewed and adjusted each year.
HECS-HELP loans are available to CSP students to pay the student contribution amount.
