We’re pleased to announce Nash Jones as the recipient of the 2026 GlobalHealth Education Australia Healthcare Education Scholarship for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

Currently studying a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) at Monash University, Nash is driven by a strong commitment to improving Indigenous health outcomes. Nash’s application reflected not only academic capability but also a clear and thoughtful vision for his future in healthcare.

Nash offers some advice to students who are considering applying for the 2027 scholarship.

This is why we have created our Healthcare Education Scholarship to provide financial support to a health student who experiences financial disadvantage and has the potential for far-reaching positive impact on the community. The scholarship award money can be used for tuition fees, learning materials, course equipment and travel costs.

2027 scholarship application details

The successful GlobalHealth Education’s Healthcare Education Scholarship applicant will receive $5,000 to support their undergraduate or postgraduate studies in healthcare.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

  • Apply by 26 February 2027
  • Be eligible for entry into a bachelor’s or master’s program at an Australian university and either be enrolled or have received an offer for a healthcare bachelor’s or master’s degree by the 30th of April 2027*
  • Be of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, identify as Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and be accepted as such by the community in which you live or have lived
  • Reside in Australia as at the time of application for the scholarship

*Payment of the scholarship will be made after, and subject to, the recipient passing the first census date.

How to apply

We’ve designed the application to give you the opportunity to share your story in a way that feels natural.

Every applicant must submit:

  • A 2-3 minute video OR 300-500 word statement explaining your motivations for studying, your career aspirations, how the scholarship would benefit you and how you think your chosen course will help you achieve your career goals
  • Your CV (including any work, volunteering or community involvement and two professional or character references)
  • Study transcripts and certificates of previous tertiary education (if applicable)
  • An offer letter or enrolment confirmation for a bachelor’s or master’s degree in healthcare at an Australian university

Application questions

As part of your application, please respond to the following questions:

  • What change do you want to see in healthcare for your Indigenous community?
  • How will your studies help you contribute to that change?
  • What experiences have shaped your decision to pursue healthcare?

These questions are designed to understand not just what you are studying, but why it matters to you.

To ensure fairness and transparency, applications are assessed across four key areas:

  1. Academic commitment (25%)
    Your dedication to learning and your readiness to succeed in your chosen course. (This may include formal results, persistence, or your learning journey).
  2. Community impact (35%)
    Your connection to the community and the contribution you want to make in healthcare. (This may include lived experience, volunteering, advocacy or future intent).
  3. Motivation and purpose (25%)
    Your “why” – what’s driving you and what you hope to achieve through healthcare.
  4. Need and opportunity (15%)
    How would this scholarship support your ability to continue or complete your studies?

FAQs

Who is GlobalHealth Education?

GlobalHealth Education partners with leading Australian universities to connect prospective students with tertiary education healthcare courses.

What health programs are eligible?

Students studying or planning to study a bachelor’s or master’s course with a certified higher education provider in health or social sciences are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

How many entries can I submit?

Only one entry per person will be accepted.

Can I apply if I don’t study a healthcare course?

No. This scholarship is only available to healthcare students.

Can I apply if I am an undergraduate student?

Yes. This scholarship is available to students studying a bachelor's or master’s degree.

How will the successful applicant be decided?

GlobalHealth Education’s Advisory Panel will assess each submission. 

The panel will select the application that best satisfies the scholarship selection criteria, including, but not limited to, the application that demonstrates academic achievement, financial disadvantage and potential for far-reaching positive impact on the community.

How will the successful applicant be announced?

The successful applicant and all applicants will be notified by email on 19 March 2027 about the outcome of their submission. Communication from GlobalHealth Education will only come from scholarship@globalhealtheduction.com.

GlobalHealth Education (GHE) Partial Scholarship Terms and Conditions ("Terms")

For students commencing study by April 2027

The GHE Healthcare Scholarship (“Scholarship”) rewards one applicant with a partial scholarship for their bachelor’s or master’s in healthcare at an Australian university, to the value of $5,000 AUD, paid to the successful recipient in a single instalment following the census date.

How it works:

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, you must:

  • Submit an application to GHE by 26 February 2027;
  • Be eligible for entry into a bachelor’s or master’s program at an Australian university and either be enrolled or intend to commence a healthcare bachelor’s or master’s degree by 30 April 2027. If you have not yet passed your first census date and you have been determined as the recipient, the funds will be released once this has been confirmed;
  • Be of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, identify as Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and be accepted as such by the community in which you live or have lived; and
  • Reside in Australia as at the time of application for the scholarship.

GHE reserves the right to request evidence confirming an applicant’s eligibility for the Scholarship.

Application steps

If you wish to apply for the scholarship, you must submit:

  1. You must submit your application via our application form by 11.59pm on 26 February 2027. Joint applications and applications on behalf of another person will not be accepted.
  2. The successful applicant will be notified on 19 March 2027.
  3. Funds to the value of $5,000 AUD will be transferred to the scholarship recipient's bank account, subject to enrolment confirmation on the day after the census date of their first study period or immediately if the course has already commenced.

Healthcare scholarship stipulations

  1. The partial scholarship is limited to bachelor’s and master’s courses in healthcare at an Australian university.
  2. The Scholarship recipient must be offered or enrolled in a healthcare bachelor’s or master’s program when applying for the scholarship, and the scholarship will be paid only on confirmation of enrolment on the census date.
  3. After being selected as the successful applicant, the scholarship recipient will be required to verify their Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent through:
    • A letter on letterhead, signed by the chairperson or CEO of an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Land Council in the area the recipient lives or has lived; or
    • A letter on letterhead, signed by a delegate of a registered and incorporated Indigenous community organisation; or
    • A statutory declaration declaring that the recipient:
             ○ is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent;
             ○ identifies as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person; and
             ○ is accepted as such by the community in which they live or have lived. 

General terms:

Selection panel

A panel of GHE representatives will select the application that, in the opinion of the panel, best satisfies the scholarship selection criteria, including but not limited to the application that demonstrates academic achievement, financial disadvantage and potential for far-reaching positive impact on the community.

The decision of the GHE panel is final and binding. No correspondence or appeal will be entered into. GHE reserves the right to reject any application that is incomplete or does not comply with these Terms without further notice to the applicant.

Successful applicant

The GHE panel will validate the successful applicant’s information to ensure compliance with these Terms, including the eligibility requirements. If the successful applicant cannot be contacted, does not formally accept the scholarship or does not successfully complete the verification within 21 days (including if the applicant has not enrolled or has otherwise deferred their study), that applicant will forfeit the scholarship and another applicant may be substituted by the panel, based on the selection criteria.

Privacy

As a means of ensuring the appropriate handling of personally identifiable information, GHE will not contact applicants unless they have applied to GHE through the https://globalhealtheducation.com/au site and consented to receive information from GHE. All personal data collected by GHE in relation to the scholarship will be handled in accordance with the Terms of GHE's privacy policy. Any questions relating to GHE’s collection, use and disclosure of personal data, should be directed to cst@keypathedu.com.

Conduct

Applicants must not make any misleading representations about GHE or the scholarship, or use any intellectual property of GHE, other than the successful scholarship recipient who may identify themselves as a current or former GHE scholarship recipient, with the prior written approval of GHE.

The Scholarship recipient must not grant any interviews, or discuss with any member of the press or other media, their receipt of the scholarship, without first notifying and obtaining the prior written consent of GHE.

Warranty

By submitting an application, each applicant warrants that:

  • the information provided in the application is true, complete and not misleading;
  • the applicant consents to the use and disclosure by GHE of their name, job title and photograph, if the applicant is selected to receive the Scholarship;
  • the applicant agrees to provide GHE with quotes regarding their selection as the successful applicant for use on the GHE website and other publications;
  • all content or material submitted by the applicant through their application to GHE is the applicant’s own original work;
  • no content or material submitted by the applicant to GHE infringes on the rights of a third party, including intellectual property rights;
  • each individual who features in any content or material submitted by an applicant to GHE has given consent for their image to be used in connection with the scholarship and in accordance with these Terms. Where any content or material submitted by an applicant to GHE features an individual who is aged less than 18 years, the applicant warrants that it has the consent of the parent or guardian of that individual.

Scholarship termination

GHE reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to withdraw the scholarship offer from the selected Scholarship recipient and substitute another applicant, if in the opinion of GHE the selected scholarship recipient:

  • is determined by GHE to have breached these Terms, including but not limited to providing false or misleading information in their Scholarship application;
  • damages, tampers with or corrupts the operation or administration of the scholarship;
  • withdraws from an eligible course prior to the census date, or fails to enrol; or
  • engages in activity deemed in the sole discretion of GHE to be inconsistent with the intended operation of the scholarship.

Entire agreement

These Terms and the documents referred to in these Terms constitute the entire agreement between applicants and GHE concerning the Scholarship. In the event of any inconsistency between these Terms and any advertising, publicity and other materials relating to or in connection with the scholarship, these Terms will prevail. The failure of GHE to exercise or enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision.

Right to alter or terminate scholarship

GHE reserves the right to alter these Terms at any time, without notice. GHE may also change, cancel, suspend or modify any aspect of the Scholarship without notice, due to events beyond its reasonable control.

Taxation

The scholarship recipient acknowledges that the payment of the scholarship may be deemed to be income by the Australian Tax Office and/or Centrelink, and the scholarship recipient agrees that they are responsible for any and all taxes payable as a result of their receipt of the scholarship, if applicable. It is the responsibility of each applicant to seek independent advice on the possible implications that the potential receipt of the scholarship (if the applicant is selected as the scholarship recipient) may have on their own financial situation.

No liability

The scholarship recipient expressly acknowledges and agrees that GHE, its related entities and their respective officers, employees and agents will not be liable for any claim, liability, damages, cost, loss or expense whatsoever or howsoever caused arising directly or indirectly in connection with the scholarship recipient's receipt of the scholarship. GHE will not be liable for any lost, incomplete or corrupted applications, or applications that are not received by GHE due to a technical error or otherwise.

No partnership

The scholarship recipient acknowledges that the scholarship does not create any agency, partnership, joint venture or employee-employer relationship between the Scholarship recipient and GHE.

Governing law

These Terms will be governed by the laws of Australia, and applicants submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia with respect to any dispute arising out of or in connection with the scholarship. If any provision of these Terms becomes or is declared in whole or in part to be illegal, invalid or unenforceable for any reason whatsoever, that provision will be severed to the extent of the illegality, invalidity or unenforceability, and the validity and enforceability of the remainder of the Terms will not be affected.

Agreement

By submitting an application for this scholarship, applicants agree to these Terms, the Terms of GHE’s privacy policy and such other Terms as are reasonably notified by GHE from time to time at its sole discretion.
