Course overview
The Master of Clinical Psychology (Advanced Entry) is an ideal study option if you already possess general registration as a psychologist or have completed an APAC-accredited Master of Professional Psychology and would like to undertake clinical psychology training as a specialised practice area.
You will undertake advanced training in professional practice, psychological assessment and clinical intervention. You will also plan, conduct and evaluate a community-based engagement project with a clinical psychology focus.
This degree will prepare you for the Registrar Program to gain an Area of Practice Endorsement in Clinical Psychology with the Psychology Board of Australia.

Entry requirements
To be eligible for entry into this course, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
Option one:
- Currently hold general registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and have held this registration for a minimum of 12 months; and
- Can demonstrate current compliance with Registration Board Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements.
Option two:
- Have completed an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited Master of Professional Psychology or equivalent program, which satisfies the APAC criteria for Level 3 professional competencies in Psychology.
- Be eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia as a provisional psychologist.
Entry is competitive, with limited places available. To be considered for a place within this course via either of the above options, applicants must supply the following:
- An official academic transcript;
- A current resume or curriculum vitae that includes employment, relevant experience, research experience and accomplishments;
- A one-page statement outlining expectations of the course, reasons for applying for entry and including qualities that make you a suitable applicant for clinical psychology training. Applicants applying based on current registration and CPD should provide details of this. Please use Times New Roman, size 12 font, with double line spacing;
- Two references were supplied via the Heads of Departments and Schools of Psychology Australia (HODSPA) Psychology Reference Portal.
Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview (face-to-face or via teleconferencing).

Career outcomes
Clinical psychologists are employed in various practice-related fields, including outpatient, inpatient, counselling, educational, forensic, health and other settings that focus on assisting people across their lifespan, from children to older people. They are also employed in teaching and research settings. Clinical psychologists work in private and public sectors, including hospitals, government departments and agencies.
Graduates of this degree can work as registered general psychologists in the public and private sectors and as clinical psychologists after completing the clinical psychology registrar program.
