This course develops specialist knowledge and skills to work with children and young people in a range of environments from acute paediatric care through to the community setting. What you will study

The course has three units of study. Each unit is valued at 20 credit points.

  • Essentials of Children and Young People's Nursing
  • Holistic Assessment of Children and Young People

Students must choose one of the following units (20 credit points):

  • Contemporary Approaches to Communicating with Children and Young People
  • Foundations of Primary Health Care
  • Perinatal Mental Health
  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health
  • Community Mental Health

Entry requirements

Academic Admission Requirements (Band 6)

The following course-specific admission requirements are mandatory and must be satisfied by all applicants. These requirements are in addition to or supersede the minimum requirements outlined within the Academic Admission Requirements band section below.

All applicants are required to provide evidence of registration as a nurse in the country in which they practice and submit a current curriculum vitae.

Academic admission requirements (Band 6) may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Equivalent prior learning, including at least five years of relevant professional experience.

English Language Requirements (Band 4)

English competency requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:

  • IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0).
  • Bachelor's degree from a country specified on the English Proficiency Bands page.
  • I completed 0.375 EFTSL of study at the postgraduate level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent).
  • Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years of relevant professional experience.
  • Other tests, courses or programs are defined on the English Proficiency Bands page.
