Course overview
The Master of Mental Health Nursing is for nurses who work within mental health services or wish to specialise in mental health. You will apply a specialised body of knowledge to your chosen field of practice. Throughout this course, you will enhance your knowledge and understanding of recent developments and research in mental health with the overall aim of using your skills in critical thinking and evidence-based practice to lead to improvements in the experiences of consumers and their families.

Year 1 - Semester 1
- Contemporary Issues in Mental Health
- Assessment of Mental Health
Plus one (1) unit from the following:
- Child and Adolescent Mental Health
- Community Mental Health
- Forensic Mental Health
- Perinatal Mental Health
- Drug Use and Addictive Behaviours
Year 1 - Semester 2
Evidence-based Practice and Research Design
Plus two (2) units from the following that have not been previously completed:
- Child and Adolescent Mental Health
- Community Mental Health
- Forensic Mental Health
- Perinatal Mental Health
- Drug Use and Addictive Behaviours
Year 2 - Semester 1
- Clinical Leadership and Management
- Research Project
- Coaching and Mentoring in the Clinical Setting

Academic Admission Requirements (Band 8)
Academic admission requirements (Band 8) may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:
- Bachelor's degree in a cognate discipline.
- Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years of relevant professional experience, would be great.
English Language requirements (Band 4)
English competency requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:
- IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0);
- Bachelor's degree from a country specified on the English Proficiency Bands page;
- completed 0.375 EFTSL of study at postgraduate level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent);
- Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years of relevant professional experience; or
- Other tests, courses or programs defined on the English Proficiency Bands page.
