This course is for midwives who want to apply a specialised body of knowledge to their professional practice. Throughout this course, you will enhance your understanding of recent developments in your chosen area of midwifery and further develop your knowledge and understanding of research, critical thinking and evidence-based practice to lead to improvements in the experiences of women/pregnant persons.

Entry requirements
Academic Admission Requirements (Band 8)
The following course-specific admission requirements are mandatory and must be satisfied by all applicants. These requirements are in addition to or supersede the minimum requirements outlined within the Academic Admission Requirements band section below.
All applicants must provide proof of current registration as a registered midwife, Division 1, with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
Academic admission requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:
- Graduate Diploma in Midwifery.
- Equivalent postgraduate midwifery study.
Academic admission requirements (Band 8) may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:
- Bachelor's degree in a cognate discipline.
- Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years of relevant professional experience
English Language Requirements (Band 4)
English competency requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following:
- IELTS Academic Overall band minimum score of 6.5 (no individual band less than 6.0).
- Bachelor's degree from a country specified on the English Proficiency Bands page.
- I completed 0.375 EFTSL of study at the postgraduate level or higher at an Australian higher education provider (or equivalent).
- Where accepted, equivalent prior learning, including at least five years of relevant professional experience.
- Other tests, courses or programs are defined on the English Proficiency Bands page.
