Course overview
The program will challenge and extend your clinical knowledge and you will increase your understanding of the assessment and treatment of conditions across the lifespan, including paediatrics, adolescence, young and older adults. You will also build on your anatomy, physiology, diagnosis and complex case management knowledge further.
This blended program includes both campus-based subjects taught in intensive face-to-face mode and fully online subjects. It is tailored to the needs of currently practising professionals and will allow you to study part-time while applying your learning to your clinical practice.
The flexible course structure lets you personalise your degree by selecting from a wide range of elective subjects most relevant to your areas of interest and career goals. This course is designed for currently practising registered physiotherapists with at least two years of post-qualification clinical experience in women's, men's and pelvic health.

The APA Physiotherapist “Title” is a measure of career progress. It represents a physiotherapist who is highly qualified in a particular area of practice.

What you will study
To earn the Master of Physiotherapy (Pelvic Health), students must complete 12 subjects or 150 credit points. Unless otherwise indicated, each subject is worth 12.5 credit points.
Students must complete 75 credit points of core subjects:
- The Pelvic Floor: Function and Dysfunction
- Advanced Practice in Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy
- Exercise for Women
- Musculoskeletal Disorders in Women
- Evaluation of Rehabilitation Practice
- Research and Evidence in Practice
Entry requirements
To be considered for entry into this course, you must
- Be qualified to practice as a physiotherapist.
- Have at least two years of documented relevant professional work experience in women’s, men’s and pelvic health.
English language requirements
All applicants to the University of Melbourne must satisfy the English language requirements. This may be achieved in several ways, including a recognised previous study taught and assessed entirely in English or an approved English language test. If you are from a non-English speaking background, the required standard of English for this degree is one of the following English proficiency test scores:
- IELTS (Academic) – 7.0, with no band less than 7.0
- TOEFL – 94+, with writing 27; speaking 18; reading 13; listening 13
- Pearson – 72+, with written communicative skill of 75 and no other communicative skill below 60
- Cambridge – 185+, with no less than 185 in writing and no less than 169 in each other's skill
