Course overview
As a social worker, you will play a vital role in fostering a society based on social justice and alleviating disadvantage. Social workers advocate for change in the social circumstances of individuals and groups who are socially excluded. They work to reduce personal pain and distress, providing guidance for individual development and helping people gain control over their life situations.
The Master of Social Work (Qualifying) is a two-year full-time program that is ideal for new graduates seeking a clearly defined career path as social workers, as well as for individuals already working in human services who wish to upgrade their skills to become qualified social workers.
As part of the core courses, you will complete professional practice courses in health and aging, child, youth and family services and mental health. You will also undertake 1,000 hours of supervised practical placements in various organisations, including not-for-profit and community service organisations and private practices.
This program is accredited by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and will enable you to qualify as a social worker and become a member of the AASW.
