Course overview
The Master of Psychology is a two-year, full-time program designed to equip you with the essential professional skills and knowledge needed to practice competently as a psychologist. You have the option to specialise in one of three areas: counselling psychology, health psychology or sport and exercise psychology.
By participating in this program, you will develop fundamental professional competencies, including skills in counselling, behaviour change and psychological assessment. You will also gain an understanding of the ethical issues and professional standards relevant to the field of psychology.
The program includes comprehensive coursework in your chosen specialisation, as well as an applied psychology research project that is supervised by highly trained staff. You will also complete both specialist and generalist placements.
You will undertake 1,000 hours of supervised clinical placements across various organisations, including community service, government agencies, hospitals, healthcare providers and private practices.
The program is recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia, providing you with the training needed to become eligible for general registration as a psychologist. Additionally, it has full accreditation from the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council.

Commonwealth Supported Places
The Australian Government allocates a certain number of CSPs to the universities each year, which are then distributed to students based on merit.
If you're a Commonwealth Supported Student (CSS), you'll only need to pay some of your tuition fees. This is known as the student contribution amount – the balance once the government subsidy is applied. This means your costs are much lower.
Limited CSP spaces are offered to students enrolled in selected postgraduate courses.
Your student contribution amount is:
- Calculated per unit you're enrolled in.
- Depending on the study areas they relate to.
- Reviewed and adjusted each year.
HECS-HELP loans are available to CSP students to pay the student contribution amount.
