Course overview

If you’re a registered midwife, study the Master of Midwifery Studies program and gain a deeper understanding of contemporary midwifery theories and practices. This program will prepare you for leadership roles in midwifery, models of care and maternity services.

The Master of Midwifery Studies is designed to develop an in-depth understanding of contemporary midwifery theories and practice, enabling students to demonstrate leadership within the midwifery profession and contemporary maternity services. Extending midwifery education in this way will place students in an optimum position to positively influence future midwifery practice and maternity services provision.

You will study modern theories that focus on providing woman-centred, primary midwifery care and cover a holistic view of midwifery, including social, emotional and cultural factors. The courses also cover the factors that affect health and well-being.

In the Master of Midwifery Studies (Clinical Education) program, you will learn to support and teach midwifery students. You will help develop, design, implement and evaluate midwifery education and professional development programs for maternity staff.

Your student contribution amount is:

  • Depending on the study areas they relate to.
  • Reviewed and adjusted each year.

HECS-HELP loans are available to CSP students to pay the student contribution amount.

FEE-HELP loans are available to assist eligible full-fee paying domestic students with the cost of a university course.
