What you will study
To earn the Graduate Certificate in Midwifery (Neonatal Intensive and Special Care), students must complete 50 credit points or four units, each valued at 12.5 credit points.

Please note that placements are only possible for registered midwives in the following geographical areas: Tasmania and New South Wales.
Entry requirements
- Applicants must have graduated from a Bachelor of Midwifery program and practised as a registered midwife for at least six (6) months since graduation prior to the start of the course.
- Applicants must provide evidence of Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration as a Division 1 registered midwife with no restrictions or conditions.
Students must be working in a Neonatal Unit where they care for critically ill and vulnerable newborns and preterm neonates. Paediatric wards are not considered.
Recognition of Prior Learning
If you’ve already completed some relevant studies, you may be eligible to apply for credit that may count towards the requirements for the degree you are applying for. Contact the university or visit their website for more information.

Commonwealth Supported Places
The Australian Government allocates a certain number of CSPs to the universities each year, which are then distributed to students based on merit.
If you're a Commonwealth Supported Student (CSS), you only need to pay some of your tuition fees. The student contribution amount is the balance once the government subsidy is applied. This means your costs are much lower.
Limited CSP spaces are offered to students enrolled in selected postgraduate courses.

- Depending on the study areas they relate to.
- Reviewed and adjusted each year.
HECS-HELP loans are available to CSP students to pay the student contribution amount.
FEE-HELP loans are available to assist eligible full-fee-paying domestic students with the cost of a university course.
