GlobalHealth Education is delighted to announce Lani Da Silva as the recipient of the 2025 Healthcare Education Scholarship for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This prestigious award recognises individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to advancing healthcare education and contributing positively to the community.

About the scholarship

The Healthcare Education Scholarship aims to support aspiring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander healthcare professionals who exhibit academic excellence, leadership qualities and a passion for improving healthcare outcomes. By providing financial assistance, the scholarship enables recipients to focus on their studies and professional development, fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Meet Lani Da Silva

Lani is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health) at Charles Sturt University. Her commitment to mental health has been evident through her academic achievements, passion for her role as an Aboriginal and mental health professional trainee at the Hunter New England Local Health District and extensive volunteer work with Orange Sky and the Awabakal Land Council. This dedication aligns with the core values of the Healthcare Education Scholarship, making Lani a deserving recipient. Upon receiving the scholarship, Lani expressed gratitude.

"[Receiving the scholarship] means a lot. It takes away a lot of stress. I can afford to study and do training. It’s great to know people are supporting us to do good for our community. I am so grateful to GlobalHealth Education Australia for this incredible opportunity!”
